Another Fake I Have Known

Collection of approximately 50 paintings, drawings, original prints and sculptures by Victor Vasarely (1908-1997) hosted just one fake, a screenprint printed on the wrong paper. It was the wrong size and had the wrong edition size.

Never learned how or when this image typically titled Enigma, Four Red Spheres came to be replicated. Appraisal was completed in 1987, ahead of the artist’s death by a decade.

Collector did not remember from whom he acquired this artwork.
